I launched Creative Little World Copywriting in April 2021. Being a Freelance Copywriter and a new business it was important for me to create a community around me. Other like-minded business owners that I could share experience and knowledge with, learn from them, and feel supported …not alone.
Being based in the beautiful New Forest I was fortunate enough to join the New Forest Business Partnership, a wonderful non-profit organisation that brings local businesses together with networking, support, and the annual Brilliance in Business Awards.
The opportunity to put my business forward for an award came 6 months into my business. The New Forest Brilliance in Business Awards would be a great way to get my name out there, so I put myself up for the Best New Business Award sponsored by the New Forest Enterprise Centre.
Writing the application was affirming, it helped me to see how far I’d come in just 6 months and seeing my plans for growth laid out made me excited for the future. Whatever happened next that exercise alone was rewarding.
I was delighted however to find out I had been shortlisted as one of the three finalists for the Best New Business Award. ME! With hefty competition (so I’m told) I was a finalist.
I was ecstatic! It meant so much to me to be recognised and acknowledged as a new business, especially by a group I hold such high regard for. Next came the finalist interview where I got to talk for 30 minutes about Creative Little World Copywriting …I loved it!
The awards night came and it was wonderful. Dressing up and getting out of the house for one thing! A rare occasion during a pandemic. But, to be amongst other local New Forest businesses and discover what wonderful people we have here was fantastic.
As the awards were announced I kept looking at the brochure and smiling at my business name and description, I was right there in print next to my fellow finalists New Forest Tea Company and New Forest Fish & Shellfish.
The moment arrived for our category and I didn’t feel nervous, being a finalist was the win for me. New Forest Tea Company was announced as the winner and I couldn’t have been happier for them, no Joey from Friends moment (you remember the one at his awards, right?!), genuine happiness, I do love tea after all!
The rest of the evening was just as enjoyable, more networking, more gin, and more lovely people. What a community to be part of!
I still look at my finalist certificate displayed in my office and feel proud. I did that in 6 months, makes the future of Creative Little World Copywriting something to look forward to.
