Where to find a copywriter?

The digital world allows you to search far and wide for service providers for your businesses. If you’re wondering where to find a copywriter, you don’t need to limit your search to the local directory.

Searching for the perfect copywriter for your business can feel like a huge task!

Where to find a copywriter who’s right for you!

Now the downside to the digital world is the amount of options open to you. It can sometimes feel like searching for a needle in a haystack! When searching for the right copywriter for you, here are a few things to look out for:

  • Do they write the type of copy you need? Not all copywriters write everything, you may want a website copywriter or someone who writes emails. Some copywriters niche their services so check they do what you need.
  • Do they have reviews from clients? Reviews are a great source of trusted information. If a copywriter has lots of reviews singing their praises, you can feel more confident they are good at what they do.
  • Do they have a portfolio of their work? A good copywriter should be able to show you a portfolio of their work so you can see examples. Some newer and still talented copywriters may not have much of a portfolio, they could still be worth a conversation though, but be mindful of a copywriter who can’t show you any examples.

Should you find a copywriter through a job platform site?

Copywriting platforms such as Fivrr and Upwork can be a great way to find a copywriter. However, be careful you’re not going looking for a ‘cheap’ copywriter. Copywriting done right is worth its weight in gold. If you go for cheap you’ll likely get copywriting which isn’t as effective, in the long run it’s false economy.

There are plenty of independent copywriters out there who you can work with directly, cutting out the middle-man and who you can enjoy a great working relationship with.

Can you find a copywriter in another country?

Absolutely! There are talented copywriters all over the globe. If you’re sourcing your copywriting from another country, here’s a couple of things to consider:

  • Do they speak your language well enough to produce good copy?
  • Do they know how to use the correct spelling for your language? E.g. US English and UK English spell some words differently.
  • Can you make payment for their services securely?

Where to begin to find a copywriter…

To begin your search for a good copywriter consider this:

  • Ask your network. It’s a great place to start, platforms such as LinkedIn are great for getting referrals, and referrals are brilliant as you know their work is tried and tested.
  • Search Google. Take a look through a search engine for a copywriter, narrow it down to your industry or type of copy you want writing.
  • Social networks. A lot of copywriters hang out on social media platforms as it’s a great way of marketing themselves. Have a look and see if anyone catches your eye!
